Prof. Farid is an Endocrinologist with special interests in pituitary disease, thyroid disorders particularly thyroid cancer, diabetes, female infertility, including polycystic ovarian disease. His training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology was at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He has held academic posts in the UK, Canada and Saudi Arabia. In April 1997 he became Professor of BioSciences at the University of Hertfordshire. and was Consultant Endocrinologist and General Physician at West Herts NHS Trust from 1997 to 2002. He is now in full time private practice and carries out research through his biotechnology company, Osancor Biotech Inc. Over the years, he has trained many successful endocrinologists, internists and scientists, and garnered over $7 million in research grants and contracts to support his research. He has published around 500 articles, reviews and chapters. He has described or re-defined a number of endocrine syndromes. His current research interests include the molecular pathogenesis of thyroid tumours, common autoimmune thyroid disorders, the function and evolution of the TSH receptor and more recently gene therapy of advanced thyroid cancer. Over the last several years he has become involved in the diagnosis and treatment of insulin resistance. In 2002, he was appointed as an external expert medical assessor to the Advertising Standards Authority. He is a founding member of an International European Consortium dedicated to defining the neuro-endocrine pathways resulting in normal human sexual development, and a member of WHO expert panel on thyroid cancer. He was short-listed for the King Faisal International Prize in Medicine & Physiology in 1993 and awarded the Kenezy Medal of the Hungarian Ministry of Health in 1998. |

Mrs. Walters trained in individual psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy at wpf Kensington and undertook psychosexual and marital training at UMDS (Guy’s Hospital). She has worked in private practice since 1994, alongside which from 1995 to 2003 was Counselling Co-ordinator for the National Stepfamily Association followed by Head of Policy and Research for Parentline Plus. As a leading professional in the field of parenting she has co-written a book for stepparents and contributed to many radio, television, magazine and newspaper interviews. With Professor Farid, Mrs. Walters is committed to the holistic approach of The London Endocrine Clinic, believing that for many people gaining insight and understanding via the interface of mind and body can be key to managing challenging behaviours: depression; feelings of loss; anger; sadness; frustration. As a psychoanalytic psychotherapist Mrs. Walters draws on psychoanalysis and psychodynamics as a way of understanding the human personality, including the way individuals interact with each other. Dalene graduated from the University of Stellenbosch, near Cape Town in South Africa. After graduation she worked in the widespread region of the Northern Cape to improve the nutritional status of women, children and people affected by tuberculosis and HIV/Aids through nutritional education, workshops and campaigns. While working in a private practice that specialised in Diabetes, Insulin Resistance and bowel problems, she discovered the unbelievable results from a well-planned low Glycemic Index, low Glycemic Load diet, especially on Insulin Resistant individuals, who have been on every diet available but never seen any results. She has since seen over a thousand patients for various medical problems, and has a passion for teaching people how to manage their nutritional conditions independently, reach their ideal weight and gain their health and their life back. She has been on national radio, researched the nutritional status of rhythmic gymnasts and written articles in newsletters. |

Lana Pinshaw is a South African qualified dietician. She graduated in 1998 from the University of Pretoria and soon left South Africa to further her career in London. She worked for the private hospital group HCA for 6 years after which she had her first child and became a freelance dietician working in both the NHS and private fields, starting her own practice. For the past 5 years, she has acted as a consultant for a Cancer Organisation in NW London. The low GI principles have ensured that throughout all aspects of her workload, patient satisfaction and improved health are achieved. |
