Testimonials
Here are the stories of just some of our delighted patients. To protect their identities, patients' name have been changed, or initials used.
Rebecca
After several years of unsuccesfully taking contraceptive pills to regulate her periods and improve her spotty skin, Rebecca was suffering from weight gain, sugar cravings, depression and loss of self-esteem. She had been diagnosed with PCOS and had been prescribed Dianette. Doctors put her mental state down to a passing phase of depression.
When things did not improve, Rebecca went to See Professor Farid on a friend's recommendation. He immediately recognised the symptoms of insulin resistance, prescribed Metformin and advised her to drop Dianette. She learnt for the first time that periods can be regulated with changes in diet and lifestyle. Two years after seeing Professor Farid, Rebecca feels that her life has been transformed since she started following Professor Farid's advice and is back to her positive, happy old self.Read Rebecca's story in her own words »

"In July 2002, ultrasound screening at my local hospital revealed a “shadow on my pancreas”, yet the surgical team thought I was “too well to have cancer”. I was therefore referred to Professor Farid, who at the initial examination correctly diagnosed that I had a parathyroid tumour. Further investigations established that I also had a tumour on my pituitary gland and DNA screening revealed that I had the rare genetic disorder, Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1, Burin variant. This disorder affects the parathyroid glands, the pituitary gland, and the pancreas.
"For the past six years Professor Farid has continuously given me the best care and attention. I shall always be deeply grateful to him for restoring my life. As Professor Farid said to me at our last review “I see no reason why you shouldn’t see your 90th birthday”. Thank you, Professor." more »

"Professor Farid is an intense listener, and gets to the bottom of the real issue quite quickly. Having done that, he worked out a strategy that we have implemented together.
"Professor Farid is great medical partner to work with – he appreciates that he cannot solve the problem by himself, he needs a patient who will take responsibility for his or her own health. The patient needs to provide accurate, relevant and detailed records if there is going to be a real improvement.
"In life everything is about balance, responsibility and sensible expectations. My diabetic care under Professor Farid is one such story – his approach has been holistic, I have helped by keeping detailed data and together we have seen huge improvements in my health." more »

"I still can’t believe the miracles in my life; one for having recovered from a pituitary tumour; two for having an explanation for my infertility and three for getting down to a size I never ever thought I could be.
"The low GI diet not only helped me lose weight but gave me the energy to sustain a highly stressful job, working long hours and helped me to deal with supporting my husband through a major operation he had to have this year.
"I am so grateful to both Professor Farid and Lana for the work they do and would recommend anyone with unexplained fertility to have it investigated." more »

"It’s been just over a year and a half since I first saw Prof. Farid, and I have now lost about 3.5 stone (22kg). I’ve dropped 3 dress sizes. I go out with friends, I buy clothes from normal high street shops, I’m not embarrassed to be seen in public. I still have a way to go with my weight loss before I’m back to where I was in 1992 when I first saw a GP complaining of these symptoms, but I know I can, and will, get there. My energy levels are through the roof, I walk, I visit friends, I stay up past 9pm on a work night! My mood has improved as well, I feel more confident and positive about life, like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders." more »Katy East
"Professor Farid diagnosed me in 2004 with PCOS. I was, of course, upset by this news but was fully reassured this was a condition a huge percentage of women suffer with and is definitely treatable with a combination of a low glycemic diet and medication such as metformin/glucophage. I took his advice with full confidence and expectations of having the condition under control, with Professor Farid's help and support, were completely realistic.
"Three years on I am delighted that my periods have returned and my weight has been kept under control. Other doctors incorrectly prescribe birth control pills as a solution to PCOS which was wrong for me in the long-term and did not treat the root of the problem. Professor Farid advised this was the wrong course of action to take and knew exactly what was right for me. I am so happy and grateful that I was given the opportunity to be treated by him and cannot thank him enough."
